Writer's Block: Fantasy Sports
Are you serious? LJ gives into this Twilight fangirl shit? Stephanie Meyer can't write her way out of a wet paper bag (if you're a fan of Twilight, I'm sorry if that metaphor just flew over your head). | | Saturday, July 4th, 2009 | | 11:35 am |
New phone
I am posting this with my new Samsung Rant. I love this little phone. | | Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009 | | 6:34 pm |
I'm addicted to tea with milk, yet again. I was hooked on Royal Milk Tea when I was in Korea (sooooo delicious), but being that I never made black tea pretty much meant that I never had the chance to continue with this habit. Then I got to Texas, where my mom makes a gallon of sweet tea every 2 or 3 days. It's a little TOO sweet for me, so I was cutting it with water. The other day, I realized I could add milk to it, and voila! I'm back on the juice. Those people on my friends list who have lived in Korea at some point surely know how good Royal Milk Tea is, and if they don't yet, they need to find out. | | Sunday, February 1st, 2009 | | 9:16 pm |
Psycho killer... Qu'est-ce c'est?.......
So, Korea just had this huge case in which a guy killed 9 girls at random. There was no sexual assault or anything or abuse. He just kidnapped them, strangled them, and then dumped their bodies in the countryside somewhere. The weirdest thing I've noticed with high profile cases in Korea is the fact that the police force the perpetrator to reenact the crime for them and news cameras. Apparently, the cops are watching for details that the guilty criminal would only know. If I were in the situation where they were trying to confirm my guilt based on my performance in this reenactment, I'd make sure I screwed it up: Me: "Then I used the .... blue pillow to smother the kid." Cop: "Are you sure you didn't use the brown one?" Me: "Yeah, I'm sure." Cop: "Damn it, you're free to go!" (NOTE: There's a movie reference in the first few lines of this dialogue, so don't think I'm some sick jerk talking about killing kids). | | Tuesday, January 6th, 2009 | | 12:14 am |
Something to do...
So, here's my goal: read these books over the next two weeks. There are 20 books here, some fairly long. I'm going to try to pull it off, though I'm not horribly worried about it. Most of them are from my reading lists for the next term, so I'm trying to get a bit of a head start. Click click click if you want to see what I'll be doing. | | Thursday, December 11th, 2008 | | 11:30 pm |

I smell smoke coming in from outside. I wonder if there's another wildfire somewhere. They should seriously outlaw wildfires, because they suck. My room smells like a BBQ pit. | | Thursday, November 27th, 2008 | | 9:58 pm |

Even though I promised myself that my TV would stay locked in the closet until after the GRE and grad application season was over, I really couldn't pass up a chance to see something so incredible happening. | | 6:29 pm |

Like, whoah...
I'm becoming a little envious of my mom's job. She works for American Airlines as an instructor/curriculum writer at their training center in Dallas. Also, she gets to fly to random places a few times a year to help open up seasonal ticket counters and flight gates. Some of her previous destinations include: Ireland - Dublin and Shannon for 2 months Germany - A few weeks in Berlin or Cologne (can't remember) Hawaii - 1 month in Maui Veil, Colorado (she gets to go ever ski season) and other random and cool places around the world... She was even slated to go to Moscow for a month over the summer with one colleague, but they decided they didn't need two people to go. So, she opted out. I think she didn't like the idea of being there, since she grew up the product of the Cold War. Right now, she's on a plane headed to Salvador, Brazil, on the country's Atlantic Coastline, for the next few weeks. Why is this awesome? For one, it's supposed to be a beautiful city, but right now it is the middle of spring there!!!!!!!! Lucky. Oh yeah, and all of these trips are paid for by AA. Housing, per diem for food, and rental cars (if needed) are covered. She's asked me before if I wanted to work in the industry, but I actually hate flying. :-P | | Sunday, October 19th, 2008 | | 1:02 pm |

Ugh...
So, I have one month to cram for the Literature GRE with a second round a few weeks later (yup, two lit GRE's), 1.5 months for the General Test, and then 2 months before I need to start finalizing applications to UCLA, UC Irvine, Berkeley (worth a shot, yeah?), UC Davis, Stanford, UC Riverside, and UC Santa Barbara. At least my applications for Korea and Yonsei Universities aren't due until April or some ridiculously late date like that. | | Sunday, August 31st, 2008 | | 2:27 pm |
The Sandman can suck it..
Seriously. Ever since Katrina I have recurring nightmares of trying to outrun or survive some kind of huge storm or disaster. I always wake up in fear recalling a massive tornado on the horizon that's bearing down on my general location. I had another dream where I was riding my motor scooter that I had in Seoul, but instead I was somewhere in northern Cali trying to beat some massive rust colored cloud of dust kicked up by some crazy storm or earthquake that seemed to be consuming everything. Imagine a wall of brownish clouds sweeping over you. They've been getting worse prior to Gustav, and they're intensifying nightly. I'm drinking a few doubles of Jameson before I go to bed in hopes of encouraging a numb and dreamless sleep, but my luck won't have it. Aside from my year in Seoul, I haven't felt at home anywhere besides New Orleans, and this whole thing is fucking with my head a lot. It makes me realize that I haven't really stopped running from the storms. I spent New Year's in Mid City with some of my closest friends, and I'm just wondering if I'm ever going to be given the opportunity to repeat that experience again. | | Sunday, August 10th, 2008 | | 12:22 pm |
Birthday... 28 today. No plans. Bored. Going to go eat Korean food.
In more recent news, I may have the opportunity to go to the Halloween party at the Playboy Mansion this year. We'll see if it actually pans out. I hope so, because that's one of those things I think most people would like to just say they did (I'll fess up to wanting to mingle with playmates, too...haha). | | Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008 | | 10:33 pm |
